Oh No!

Hand Foot and Mouth has made it's way to our little girl! Ugh!!
This past friday night I noticed a blister looking type thing on her lip. It looked at first to be a cold sore. I didn't want that either because once you get the herpes virus it stays with you for the rest of your life. The next day, she woke up with still just the one, but after she ate breakfast, her whole face broke out with them. We saw a few on her legs and by Saturday night she had patches of it all over her legs, feet, and elbows. I seriously have never heard of this until I moved to Utah. Never had it has a child or knew of anybody that did. But apparently, it's going around and it's an airborne virus! My guess is she most likely got it at gymnastics this past Wednesday since no one in her nursery has seem to have gotten it. Luckily, she hasn't really gotten any in her mouth and throat. At least that I can see so she's not eating as poor as I hear some kids eat and I"m grateful for that. I think the hardest thing for all of us about this is that we can't take her anywhere until the bumps disappear so that we don't spread it. So she can't go to the park or gymnastics or to the pool. I hope it clears up quick!

Here's a big patch of it on her elbow. Surprisingly, she's done a pretty good job at keeping her self from picking at them which totally shocked me. When this girl skins an elbow she's always picking at the scab. Gross huh?

Here it is on her face. This is the part that looks the worse to me. I can handle it being on her legs and elbows, but it breaks my heart seeing it on her beautiful face!

But she could care less! It hasn't effected her happiness one bit!

  1. One of Nichole McGhie's kids got it and it spread to her husband and another kid. My mom left a comment on her post about how my little brother had it and make sure you use gloves when touching any of the kids bathroom as it spreads easily. Thought that might be good info for you too. Good luck.

  2. Not just in Utah! I have a couple of friends who had it here in Arizona as well, and my sister in law in CT had a kid with it recently. We've been lucky so far, it looks so lame! I'm glad she's been a happy kid no matter what. She's so so so cute!

  3. Poor girl! Love to see her still smiling. It's been going around here too, not too aggressively, but have had neighbor kids with it. Good luck with the cooped up part because as long as the child is happy, that's the next worst thing like you basically said. :(

  4. I think your title is right on...OH NO!!! I, too, have never heard of that disease. Somebody's kid had it in my neighborhood and I thought I had misunderstood but it seriously is what it is. Hope your little girl heals quick. Love her beaming face!
