Fun Outings on Daddy's Day Off

About a month ago, I asked if James could take the friday before Memorial day off so we could have him at home for 4 whole days. He happily obliged and we loved soaking up all of the time we could with him. He's been going out of town a lot  for work the past few months for days at a time. So it was nice having him change all of the diapers and get Janen ready for the day and give me a little sanity break.

Friday was pretty low-key, but that's what I wanted to happen. We cleaned the house, went to the park and out to dinner as a family. On Saturday , the weather was yucky so we also kept it kind of low key, but still got out of the house. We visited our garden, went to the library and then headed over to Tai-Pan Tradings huge tent sale. I found a couple of big (and sturdy) picture frames for half off which I was super excited about. We seriously have nothing on the walls right now. Reason for that is, at our last place we painted our living room walls this beautiful light bluish gray color so I painted all of my black picture frames white. Well since we didn't end up staying there from mold problems, we now live some where with off-white walls. The bright white picture frames on off-white wall does not look good. I decided from now on, I"m staying with the traditional black or brown frames. Lesson learned. Tangent over.

Sunday is church day so other than attending church and visiting our garden once again (since it's right next door to our church building) we spent the day at home. But Monday was forecasted to have good weather. Yay! After a week of threatening to rain every day with random small showers, I was thrilled to see the sun!

I mentioned in an earlier post that James and I got the pass of all passes. We hadn't used them up until Monday because it just hadn't worked out, but when we found out we can get into the Tracy Aviary for free on Mondays we jumped all over that opportunity. The aviary is surrounded by a big park with a lake that you can paddle boat on. It was so nice to be there! There were a few birds/ducks that were waddling around in the aviary and Janen wanted to chase them so bad. Here are a few pictures of the day!

I told Janen to say, "ca-caw" instead of cheese. Hence the face. :)

Isn't this so cute?!

Janen's favorite exhibit was the flamingos because they are pink and have long legs that look like sticks.

This is probably the second to last picture I will ever be in during this pregnancy. The last one possibly being when I'm in the hospital about to give birth. I hate the way I look when I'm pregnant!

The way they set up some of the exhibits was really cute. There were little ducks waddling around in the grass area and little exhibits of birds in windows.

After we were done with the aviary exhibit, Janen begged to ride this rickety car ride. Boy was she mad when she had to get off. Plus nap time was approaching.

The second part of our day (after a nap and dinner) we headed out again to Trafalga! This was mainly for Janen. She gets so happy riding rides and now that she is over the 36 inch mark she could pretty much ride everything. This girl is fearless I tell you! Her favorite was riding on the go-cart with Daddy. She also got mad when she couldn't stay on and go another round. Future race car driver in our midst? Just kidding! I sure hope not! That would give me a heart attack.

All in all we had a really fun day seeing the birds, rolling down hills, zooming on airplanes. Janen kept asking all day yesterday (the day after our fun day) when she can go back and ride the car and planes. Her common phrase these days is, "I want to ride on the plane someday. Daddy will take me." She says Daddy because that's what I tell her. I can't go on any rides right now since I'm pregnant so James gets to do everything with her. I'm a little jealous, but my time will come. :)
