Trip to California

Last week, James, Janen and I got to take a little break from our everyday-mundane life and go to California for about a week. We left Tuesday, June 29th in the morning for a night in Las Vegas. This was really for the purpose of a half-way stopping point, but we tried to make the best of it, even with a baby.

Here's Janen entertaining herself on the long drive
Janen & James getting their wiggles out after the 6 hour drive.

Janen and I in front of the Mirage hotel. It was really hot in Las Vegas so walking around with her strapped to me was DEATH! My shirt was soaked through with sweat when we went back to the hotel, but Janen enjoyed herself and all the lights.

Once we got to Fresno, we just mostly hung out and saw Family and friends.
Look at how white we are compared to my mom and brother. Yes, we are biologically related, but they get more sun than  me these days.

And some cute pics of (mostly James with Janen) at Woodward Park.

We also went up to Auberry to see Regina and Joel's place and bbq hot dogs and roast marshmellows with a bunch of friends, but I neglected to take pictures. Shame on me!

Next stop was Rocklin, CA where Jared, Lindsey, Landon & soon to be born Liam. We mostly just chilled with them (which we were totally happy to do) but spent the afternoon in Old Town Sacramento and went for a boat tour along the Sacramento river. The boat tour wasn't as impressive as I was hoping, but a nice change from every day routine. Here are some more pictures to commemorate the event below,

About 15 minutes into the tour she fell asleep and Landon kindly let her borrow his stroller so she could nap.

After a week that seemed to fly by faster then you can say 'Silly Buttons', we were headed on our way back home. Miraculously, we made it straight through without having to stop somewhere. I know what some of you are thinking, "That's only an 11 - 12 hour trip, what's the big deal?" Well, you have a young baby and then come talk to me. So I was nervous, because the trip out was hard on Janen, but on the way back, she did great. She was was happy girl for the most part and gave me lots of smiles.
