Elsie Ann, a whole month has gone by since I first got to see your beautiful face. I knew before you were born that you would be just what I needed at this time in my life. You have not proven me wrong. You are an easy baby (compared to Janen so far). You sleep longer stretches than your older sister ever did at this age and for that I am truly grateful. I would say your longest stretch has been 5 hours. However, it's just at the wrong time of day. :) Hopefully we can remedy that soon with a handy dandy baby equipment thing we just ordered on Amazon that's supposed to mimic a car ride. Either way, your fussing is minimal and you are a very easy baby to read and for that I am grateful.
You love to snuggle and you are one determined girl. You love to stare at us and things around you and your head control is awesome. You can already roll onto your side and have been able to do this since you were about 2 weeks old. And this is on the floor, not on the bed so I know you have mad skills. When someone is in the room talking you try to turn your head to see where the noise is coming from. It's super cute. The first week or two of your life we had a few issues that all turned into being nothing. You failed your hearing test and had to be retested a couple weeks later. Good news, you passed! You had a heart murmur at birth and had to be seen by a cardiologist (that was expensive, but you're worth it) and it turned out to be innocent and it went away a few days later. You had a bout with jaundice and had to go back to the dr's every day to get poked to recheck your levels. You came really close to having to go under the lights, but I nursed you as often as I could and grandma Havican sat on the porch with you to give you some indirect exposure to sunlight and through our efforts, by the time you were 6 days old, you were finally heading into safer levels.
By the time you were two weeks old you had gained back your birth weight and then some. The day you were born you were 7 p 12 oz. At 2 days old you were 7 p 3 oz. At 4 days old you were 7 p 8 oz and at your two week check up you were 8 p 8 oz. You are growing healthy and strong. It's funny that at one month old, you are about the size your sister was when she was born. Thank you for being smaller than her. :) We are so glad that you have joined our family. Janen just loves you to pieces and can't wait until you are big enough to run around with her, but for now she is content to give you hugs and kisses and pat your back when you need it. Can't wait to see how much you change over the next month.
Here are some pictures from the past month of your life.
Here's sissy being a big help and feeding you a bottle. She asks me once a day if she can help feed you.
Kisses from Janen!
Aside from the first sponge bath Grandma Havican and I gave you, you really enjoy your baths and haven't cried since then.
This is one of my favorite pictures of you.
We all thought it was so cute that you were wearing a shirt that said "dance" on it and your hands were in fifth position. They looked better right before I got the camera but than you moved.
"Chin up sissy!" Aren't they so cute?
And my little snuggle bug. :)

So adorably cute!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little one! I love it!
