Janen at 18 and 19 Months

I say 18 and 19 because her check up was literally 2 days before her 19th month. Here is where Janen is measuring out today.

Weight: 25 pounds and 4 oz ----60th percentile
Height: 34 1/4 inches -----97th percentile (still my tall girl)
Head: 18 1/2 inches ----60th percentile

Some of you may remember a previous post where I mentioned that Janen had a heart murmur. At first the doctor said it was too slight to even be a concern and could possibly be due to her anemia and that he would just keep an eye on it. Well it pains me to say that even though she is anemia free, her heart murmur has become more prevalent. Doctor Andersen told us that it isn't common for someone her age to get them and referred us to a cardiologist. The earliest we could get in is the 26th of this month. I've tried not to think about it too much, but it's hard not to. Even if it was something that could easily be fixed by surgery, I just can't imagine my sweet little girl going under the knife for open heart surgery. It scares the crap out of me. With that said, please keep Janen in your prayers. We will keep you updated as soon as we know more.

But for now here's some of the new things that Janen has been learning over the past month or two

-can count to ten forwards, and is starting to learn how to do it backwards. She is also learning to count to twenty, but usually skips a lot of numbers. "eveven, twelve, thirteen, eighteen, nineteen, TWENTY!"
-She can sing the alphabet, but sometimes gets stuck on her favorite part and will do a loop of about 6 letters a few times and then move on.
-We stared potty training a couple of weeks ago. I don't know maybe we're nuts. She is still learning a lot about that and goes pee anywhere from once to four times a day and she went number two the other day for the first time. It's amazing how poo-poo on the potty was such an accomplishment. I think it will be a few months before she starts telling us that she needs to go.
-Started actually singing, rather than just reciting words from songs. This is seriously one of my favorite things right now. I love to hear her sing.
-Puts together 3-4 word sentences. My favorite is when she comes in our room in the morning and says, "Good Morning Mommy. Good Morning Daddy." or "I want my mommy. I want my daddy."
-This girl is a huge fan of Sesasme Street. She would watch it all day if I let her.
-She can swing on the big kid swing all by herself.
-She can hang on the monkey bar and pull her knees up.
-She can go down the slide by herself and then turn back around and climb up it.
-Just recently learned how to jump with two feet off the ground. "jumpa, jumpa, jumpa"
-We like to call her "Janen-Bobanen" and so she'll randomly start saying the alphabet and stop a few letters in and say "Janen-Bobanen" and then crack up. She has a great sense of humor.
-And my all time favorite. No matter who's tootin or burpin she always has to blame it on daddy. "daddy, toot-toot, gross."

Keep on being the awesome, smart and funny girl you are Janen. Life is seriously so much better now that you are in it.

  2. I can't get over on how big she's gotten! She's such a little cutie! Doing her own run in the alphabet song, could she be any cuter?! I'll be praying for her. That she won't have to have heart surgery. And for peace for you and James.
