Ginger Bread Houses

This past Tuesday, we invited a few friends over from the ward to decorate Ginger Bread houses. James and I made the Ginger Bread houses from scratch and cut out all of the pieces for the house. It was a lot of work, but the end result was worth it. We hope to keep the tradition of building Ginger Bread Houses a tradition in our family. Here are some fun pictures of all of the creative minds at work.

The Brownings and James hard at work building their houses.

Tij and Camille Von Neida had a system down and were done before most of us were half way through.

Jake Miller making sure his roof is secure.

Tij and Camile, putting on their final touches.

I promise James didn't do all the work. I was just the one that wanted to whip out the camera more. :)

 Kyle and Janae's unfinished project.

And their finished project. Notice the "smoke" from the chimney. That was one of my favorite parts.
And the kissing bears at the front door. Good job Brownings!
Here is our finished house. (the back)
 The side
 The other side.

James had the idea of making the gummy bear looking like it was skiing off of the roof.

Tij and Camille's finished house. I loved that there's was so uniform and that they used marshmallows on the sides to create a snow affect.

The only picture I got of Jake & Julia's before the roof of their house fell in. :( I would've never thought to use sprinkles, but I kind of wish we would've done that too.

Fun times & great memories shared with great friends from a great ward! Thank you Brownings, Millers and Von Neida's for being part of our Christmas fun!

  1. That is such a cute idea to make gingerbread houses. I've always thought that making gingerbread houses would be hard... Was it fun?

  2. baking the gingerbread houses was a little challenging. It wouldn't have been so bad if the recipe stated that one batch made two, so we assumed one batch only made one and made more than we needed. Thus spent more time in the kitchen then I would've liked. I think next year will be even better because it will take half the time. But I still had fun decorating the house and being among great company.
