So I know to most people this just seems like a cool concept and yes it is a very cool concept/ Thousands of people are all dancing the same choreography to a live show. But to me, it's so much more. Most of you know that dancing is very near and dear to my heart and it has brought my life so much joy. My favorite thing about seeing this segment on Oprah was that every single person's face that participated in this was smiling. I felt the unity and harmony exuded for a brief few minutes among the thousands of audience members/dancers. This clip is from Oprah's kick off for her 24th season. I didn't see it when it originally aired, but Oprah showed it again on her show later in the season and had the mastermind behind the whole thing on the show along with a couple of people that were in the audience and got to participate. One of the participants said that he felt like he got a glimpse of what Heaven is going to be like. With everyone unified for the same purpose. Happy and smiling.
And you know that girl with the blue shirt that danced by herself in the beginning? That would totally be me. It may be hard for some of you to believe that about me because some of you don't really know me. But I would've loved to have been part of that event. I cried when I watched it. It makes me miss dance so much and the harmony and magic I feel when I get to dance with others who share the same love for it as I do.

ReplyDeleteBrought me joy too! Thanks! It reminded me of my senior prom when my group of friends started doing a "cotton-eyed joe" dance and soon had the whole room doing it together! It was one of the highlights of my high school experience.

ReplyDeleteI love that song! That would have been cool to be there, and even to watch it on TV where the video isn't pausing every few seconds to load. LOL Our crazy computer.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm not a dancer, I love seeing things like this. I'm sad I missed it on TV. And your words and thoughts make me wonder, do you watch So You Think You Can Dance? If so (or if not, I guess you can search on YouTube), the montages that they have at the end of each season always make me tear up. They always start a little silly (the replay clips of the ridiculous auditions) but halfway through they always switch to a more inspirational song ("Time of my Life" or "Light and Day") while showing clips of some of the many beautiful pieces that have aired that season. Those make me cry every single time.
