James and I found out on June 1st that we are having a baby! I went to my first appointment this past Monday and the doctor confirmed that the sickness I've been feeling these past 4 weeks wasn't for nothing. Today I had an ultra sound to determine just how far along I am because of my irregular menstrual cycle over the last several months. If my cycle was normal, then this past Monday would've been the start of my 9th week. However, my OBGYN said that my uterus felt smaller than 9 weeks so she wanted to schedule an ultrasound to be sure. I was terrified all week that I would get told I was only 7 weeks along or something because let me tell you this morning sickness is no picnic and the sooner I can reach the second trimester the better. Not that the second trimester guarantees that I won't be sick, but it looks a lot more hopeful from the stories I've been hearing of current pregnant women.
The ultrasound technician confirmed that I was in my 9th week. (YAY!) But just a few days later then I originally thought. I can deal with a few days, but not a couple of weeks so I was happy to hear that! We got to see the little gummy bear and could see it moving around and it's heart beating. It's crazy to think that that little gummy bear is going to grow to be a cute baby! I wish I had a scanner to post the picture, but then again who wants to see pictures of the little peanut when it only has little stubby arms and legs. (hence the gummy bear analogy). The next ultrasound is scheduled for the 20th week. I know I probably shouldn't hope for a particular sex, but I've always wanted a girl first. I've dreamt about baby girls a lot, even before I was pregnant so let's see if those were premonitions. About 11 more weeks and we'll find out. Of course if it is a boy, I will be happy too because I definitely want at least one of those too! Either way, it's a win-win situation and that baby is going to be so darn loved!!
So that's the news on the home front and we're excited and nervous about how everything is going to come together, but we're hopeful that we'll have everything we need.
In other news, I've decided to continue my personal blog because I am what I am and sometimes I just like to get personal. I feel like a family blog wouldn't be the right place to do it so thus, the reason for the resurrection of said personal blog. I will go through and add anyone who has expressed an interest in reading this blog, but will be making it private in the next couple of days. Here is the address http://jessamariehavican.blogspot.com/

Oh! I highly reccomend the book "Your pregnancy: Week by Week" I found it at Borders in the "pregnancy" section. It gives pictures of what your baby looks like inside you each week, whats growing and developing and gives great pointers on things like morning sickness, breast feeding, etc. I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteHey Jess. Can you invite me to your other blog? Thanks. And of course congratulations. Everything will work out somehow. :)
