After Wedding Fat

James and I just purchased a two year Gold's Gym membership this past week. We did it through my job's corporate account so it was a steal! Just $15 a month for me and $18 for James and the down payment was only $15 for both of us combined. We got it on Thursday and I've already been twice. I'll probably go again today. We are both excited to have this available to us to ensure that we don't fall into the stereotypical trap of gaining weight during the first year of marriage. Hey it may be a stereotype, but it's a true one!

We have been married for a month officially yesterday (May 24th). It's kind of weird to see that only one month has past when we feel like it's been longer. Before we know it, a year will pass. The end of June marks our one year anniversary of when we started dating. It's crazy to think that I've been here for almost a year in just a couple of weeks!! It's been a crazy journey, but so worth it. Still trying to get into a groove, living here in Provo, but I'm determined to find that groove and find affordable creative outlets. I miss a lot of things about living in Fresno and nothing will ever replace the experiences I had there, but it's about time I let go of that and really settled here. Easier said than done right? I think the fact that we have a Gold's Member ship, that's available to us whenever, is one step in the right direction. It'll help me get out of the house and be more active.

James is in school this spring semester at BYU and we're both excited for him to be done and for our summer to officially start. Just a few more weeks, we're almost there! This Saturday is our Minnesota reception. I'm glad and I'm sure James is too, to be able to leave town. Even if it's just for a couple of days.

And here's random recipe for all of you peanut butter lovers! I love this pie and it's extremely easy to make!

NO BAKE PEANUT BUTTER PIE

Prep time: 20 Minutes Ready in: 2 Hours after Prep

Ingredients:
1 (8ounce) package of Cream Cheese
1 1/2 cups Confectioner's sugar
1 cup Peanut Butter
1 cup Milk
1 (16 ounce) package whipped topping, thawed
2 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crusts

OPTIONAL:
Reese's peanut butter cups (8 pack individual cups)

Directions:
1. Beat together cream cheese and confectioners' sugar. Mix in peanut butte and milk. Beat until smooth. Fold in whipped topping.
2. spoon into two 9 inch graham cracker pie shells; cover and freeze until firm.

I like to break apart the peanut butter cups and stick them on top. This is a delicious pie and I always get tons of compliments. Even from those who aren't big fans of peanut butter. Enjoy!

And that's it for this post. C'est la vie!

  1. You're right that you have to find your own groove wherever you may be. Be good to yourselves and enjoy the ride to that groove. (But don't just right off Fresno fam.) I will be back there in Aug. and we need to atleast get together for dinner or something. Have a fun and safe trip to MN and tell all of James family hello for me. Love ya

  2. Hi Jess, it's me your old blogging friend from when we used to blog on Myspace (and not to mention Heritage ward)! Thanks so much for posting an update about you and James. I am so glad that you two are doing so well and hope that you have an awesome second reception in MN. I was just thinking about you because you really helped me a couple of years ago when I was struggling with things that were happening that I didn't feel that I had control of. I really admire how you really choose to have a positive attitude and approach life and change as an adventure! I wish that I could do better in these areas. You're right, it is easier said than done...Anyway, you guys take care and keep in touch online! Love you.

  3. Check out Thanksgiving Point. They usually have free concerts on the weekends durring the summer. They're usually locals, but it's totally fun. Also durring the summer, the shopping center in provo where Borders is (can't remember the name) usually has little street farmers market type stuff going one, they close off traffic and they have free entertainment . . . And Trolly Square in SLC sometimes has social dances and music on weekends for free.

  4. At least you're finding YOUR own groove. Congratulations on you both. We're so sorry we didn't make the reception. Maybe we'll come out there soon and visit you guys!

    Miss ya lots,
    Michele
