School is Cool!!

I enrolled in school this week. I have already received my 'acceptance letter' (cause really everyone pretty much gets accepted) and have been getting everything together to go back this fall. I have declared my major as Elementary Education. I always had the thought of being a teacher in the back of my mind, but so have a lot of other options. All those possible careers have been crowding up space in my brain. But this one, I've realized, has a few things I am interested in rolled in one.

A big reason it took me so long to really feel, I guess you could say, dedicated, to going back to school, was because I didn't really know what I should do. I mean, I had thoughts and ideas, but nothing really ever felt right. But this FEELS right. I went to college aimlessly back home off and on for 3 years, but really don't have much to show for it. I got to dance at Fresno City and loved every minute of it, but it's time for me to grow up and really dig my heels into receiving a higher education. It helps being married and having a wonderful husband who supports me in what I want to do. Also, not having to track down a mother who moves 5 times a year and can't remember where she put her taxes so I can apply for financial aid. This time around, it's much easier for me and so, I feel like it's the right time.

James goes to school and works from about 8/9 AM to 5 PM so this gives me the opportunity to take a few classes at night. That way myself or James will always be with Janen as this was another thing hindering me from going back to school. I don't want to pay a stranger to watch my child. I don't want to pay anyone really and I'm grateful that I don't have to.

I just have a couple more steps to do before I can start registering for classes. Such as getting a hold of my transcript, taking the placement test and meeting with my adviser. But hopefully it will all be taken care of by the end of next week. I am super excited! Now I will have more things to post about other then Janen all the time. Not that I don't love her, but hopefully you know what I mean. :-)

  1. Cool! It's good that you're excited and motivated to do this. Good luck with the classes and doing homework again.
